IN 2024, WE REACHED NEW HEIGHTS

Altoona continues to prove why it's Iowa's business-friendly hub for growth. Despite economic uncertainties, 2024 was another strong year for development. The City issued more than $81 million in new building permits, with residential projects leading the way. Our population grew to nearly 21,700 residents, a 10.9% increase since 2020. Additionally, site plans were approved for over 182,000 square feet of new commercial and industrial space, setting the stage for more to come.

In 2023, the Altoona City Council amended the Altoona Revitalization Area Plan to reauthorize tax abatement through Dec. 31, 2032, for single-family, owner-occupied homes.
