Baker Group, a top specialty contractor, proudly announces a major expansion in its modular prefabrication services with the opening of a cutting-edge 90,000 square foot offsite manufacturing facility in Altoona, Iowa. This strategic investment brings Baker Group’s total prefabrication capacity to an impressive 239,000 square feet, underscoring the company’s dedication to accelerating project delivery and enhancing operational efficiency in the face of industry labor challenges.
The new facility will act as a central hub for Baker Group’s modular prefabrication operations, significantly enhancing the company’s service capabilities. It will facilitate an advanced approach to design collaboration, quality assurance, and acceleration of construction schedules for building owners throughout the country. The facility is designed to enable skilled craftspeople to construct custom Piping, Electrical, Sheet Metal, and Automation modular units under one roof, which are then transported to clients with precision and timeliness, catering to varied client needs and project deadlines.

Located at 2770 21st St. NW in Altoona, the new facility is equipped with multiple robust 24’ x 23’ bay doors to accommodate a wide range of module sizes. It also features state-of-the-art technology, including the ability to handle and transport modules weighing in excess of 77,000 pounds nationwide. Coupled with advanced modeling software, this facility will ensure real-time process monitoring and timely deliveries, enhancing overall project efficiency.
