See how Olde Town is evolving, and what’s next for Altoona’s downtown business district.
Altoona’s Olde Town is stepping into an exciting new chapter. With a wave of improvements already underway—and more planned for the months ahead—this historic district is quickly becoming a promising business location in Altoona.
Recent Enhancements
In the past year, Olde Town has seen several major updates. The vibrant “Altus” mural by award-winning artist Mila Sketch was completed, bringing new life and color to the area. Construction is now underway on the new Olde Town Plaza, right next to the mural. This inviting outdoor space will offer gathering areas and event space when it’s slated to open in July.

Historic properties are also getting a second life. The Haines House, built in 1875, has new owners: Kyle Clarkson and Sarah Kavalier of LPT Realty. They plan to partially renovate the building for their real estate office while preserving its rich history.
More public art is in the works, too. Plans are in motion for a large mural on the north side of the building at 305 1st Avenue South—a prominent wall that will bring another colorful addition to Olde Town’s transformation.
Continued Investment
Through the Olde Town Façade Program, building owners have been able to restore storefronts and improve curb appeal. Two projects from last year’s program are nearing completion. And beginning July 1, funding will open for three more façade projects, helping even more properties shine. More information on how to apply will be available soon.
