2016 Polk County Master Gardener Annual Plant Sale
Join the Polk County Master Gardeners and the Mud, Camp, Spring Creek Watershed Management Authority for a morning of Brew n’ Blooms at Victorian Acres on Saturday, May 7, from 8:30 am to 10 am.
The Polk County Master Gardeners plant sale will feature annuals, perennials, tomatoes, peppers, herbs, hanging baskets, houseplants, garden art, books, and used tools. Proceeds support the Master Gardeners’ Demonstration, Discovery and Enabling Gardens in the Des Moines area, as well as other programs.
In addition to the plant sale, visitors can enjoy coffee and bagels while learning about watershed management plans for nearby creeks.
Activities & Demonstrations
- Quality restoration and rainscaping properties
- How that ties in to the water quality and peak flow reduction in area creeks and streams
- Demonstration showing how compost is applied to a lawn after aeration and it’s benefits
- Ward’s 3D flood model demonstration
- The benefits of storage upstream regarding flooding
- While supplies last, guests will receive a butterfly/milkweed plug and/or seed packet
- Drawing to win a compost bin
