The City of Altoona is pleased to announce the hiring of City Administrator, Randy Pierce. City Council gave unanimous approval of the employment agreement at the October 3rd council meeting.
“We have been fortunate as a City, to have Randy Pierce on our team since 2002,” states Mayor Dean O’Connor. “This new role he is stepping into, will be the perfect fit for his vast knowledge and collaboration within City Staff and the community as a whole.”
Pierce has previously served as the Finance Officer for over 20 years with the City of Altoona. He will still be serving in that dual role until a new City Finance Officer and City Clerk are hired. Prior to coming to Altoona, he was an accountant in Ottumwa for ten years. He graduated from William Penn University with a degree in Accounting.
Pierce is humbled to extend his service to the Altoona community he has deep roots in, and states, “I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the citizens of Altoona, and in another capacity. I’m looking forward to continuing the collective efforts between council, staff, and community members, to further advance the City of Altoona.”
Mayor O’Connor adds, “He has built a great foundation over the years, and has a unique understanding of the community. The City of Altoona is looking forward to many great opportunities under Randy’s leadership.”
Randy Pierce and his wife Laurie have two sons and have lived in Altoona since 2002.
